Recently I had few damages in my cue, the tip lost a little piece from one side and the shaft has a new ding from accidental drop down.
So it's time to get a new cue within my budget (£50 max) that means the best option is try to get a decent second hand cue. I'm bidding for some cue in ebay, but decided that the most important bit in the cue is the tip.
I spent some time in internet reading from reviews and forums about american pool tips.
My idol Efren Reyes was using in his main cue the cheap Elk Master tips (soft) which everybody say that get mushroomed very easily, but he was soaking the tip in a solution of milk and then compressing the tip in a vice to get the tip more consistant. With the technology going ahead, the tips have been introduce new materials and technics for manufacture now days. Efren use at present the popular Tiger tips model called "Sniper", which they are medium type tips.
The most popular, most expensive and best reviewed tip is the Moori tips, made in Japan. I checked few uk sites and the were about £18 each, so expensive!
Looking for a cheap shop in internet I found a place where they have sales on tips, and they have all most popular tips for less than have price anywhere in internet.
My order is:
1    Moori III Tip  (Medium hardness 74.2) - Probably the best tip in the market
Presenting the Incredible 9 Layer Pigskin tip from Japan. Moori III tips received their first nationwide exposure during the WPA World 9-ball Championships in October of 1994 and prompted many other companies to begin manufacturing a layered tip. Moori III tips substantially increase a players consistency. Even with numerous companies now offering a layered tip Moori III is the tip of choice for consistency and superior quality.
1    Tiger Sniper Laminated Cue Tip  (Medium-Soft hardness 66.9??) - Efren Reyes and other top players use this tip now days
A word from us about these tips. These are made right here in the USA under strict standards. We are of the opinion that these tips are better than a Moori - without question. You'll have to try one to see how great they play and you surely will not be disappointed.

SNIPER Laminated 14mm Cue Tips are made from a boar hide that is tanned the old fashioned way, under ground. Treated slowly and without any chemicals, each hide takes up to a year to tan completely. The hide is then treated to give the Sniper tips characteristics that will improve your game.

The VACULAM™ is a unique vacuum lamination process that eliminates air between the layers and within the leather. Tiger Products have also added a new treatment, "APP" Advanced Pressurized Process, to make these cue tips adaptable to any player or game, regardless of style.

Sniper tips are guaranteed to have all the characteristics of a tip that will hold chalk well and will not mushroom. It will give you maximum control, consistency and least amount of deflection a tip can offer. SNIPER Laminated Cue Tips, Precision At It's Best!
1    Tiger Everest Tip  (Medium-Hard hardness 75.1) - Many people say is the best tip. Predator cues have this tip as default!
These tips are one of the best playing tip out there. Available only in 14mm.

Everest tips are made from the finest quality pig skins in the world, Everest Laminated Cue Tips are the most sophisticated, durable and advanced cue tip created. Each layer is carefully selected and split. From these splits only the ten most even and durable layers are chosen. By vacuum laminating with our the manufacturers VACULAM™ process, Everest cue tip becomes the best laminated cue tip ever. Each Everest Laminated Cue Tip is individually tested for consistency, hardness and quality. This cue tip shapes like a hard tip, hits like a medium and has a control like a soft tip. Play with one and experience, THE ULTIMATE HIGH IN PLAY!
1    Barringer Jump/Break Tip (Very hard hardness) - Special tip for a break cue, it's time to have one!
These are a custom blend which are machined to 14mm. They are incredible for jump or break shots. You'll jump effortlessly and attain more velocity in your break shots without any additional effort.

Do you doubt their effectiveness? Then just read the following unsolicited testimonial which had to be edited for public viewing:

"HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!! You were not kidding. I tried one of these on a good breaker last night at a pool hall. I hit the balls and everyone looked up to see if there were pieces of the balls on the table. These hit like a missle!!!!!! Everyone looked at the cue and tried it and all they said was, holy crap where did you get these!!?? I am not ready to let the cat out of the bag but you have a super product here!!!!!!!! Thanks,
Don Bilger,
Lewisburg, Pa"
You will certainly notice the difference and more importantly, so will your competition.
2    NEW H2 Tip Hercules Laminated Tips (Medium hardness) - It looks a very good tip with low maintenance
These are the new Hercules H2 tips that everyone is talking about. They are 12 layers of high grade pig skin, 14mm and pre-domed. They transfer more spin and control over other similar tips and really hold chalk well. Unlike Talisman tips which are notorious for delamination, Hercules tips hold their shape and more importantly -- hold together during critical shots. These are only manufactured in a medium tip.
1    Wizard Cue Tip (Medium hardness 75.7) - Moori like type, maybe better?
Wizard Cue Tips are an exceptional quality 11 layer tip and are available in Medium or Hard. These are 14mm tips. Many compare them to a Moori and some say they're better. Try some and we're sure you'll agree that Wizard Cue Tips are every bit as good as the higher priced layered tip.
1    Hercules Balabushka Laminated Tip  (Hard hardness 81.3) - Moori like type, with 23 layers and hard, very interesting!
These tips are the closet thing to a Moori that we've seen. They hold chalk very well. The craftsmanship and consistency is outstanding. They are 23 layers of laminated pigskin.
